Near junction where Vine Tree AVE & Rope Lane.

Reported via mobile in the Carriageway category anonymously at 09:17, Thu 11 July 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6216613.

Near Junction of Vine Tree Avenue & Rope Lane but on Rope Lane near property Number 2 Vine Tree AVE and some bungalows on Rope Lane. The Vine Public house is also nearby. Two grids blocked and overflow, when raining, down the gutter of Rope Lane. The two grids are actually in the road. It has been an issue for some time.

This is an issue as you can see where run off from one grid is damaging the edge of the carriageway as it flows down the gutter to a nearby grid. This only happens, of course, when it's raining. If it is dry when you inspect the grids there will be no evidence! However, I did look at the grids one day when it was dry and they do appear all silted up (the one near Number 2 Vine Tree AVE/ The Vine public house). The grids are easy to see in the road (Rope Lane).

Also, another issue was in winter (2023/24), the water, as always, was being splashed up on to the pavement by passing cars it then froze to black ice. This was a great danger to people walking as it was impossible to see in the dark and there was a danger of slipping on to the carriageway of Rope Lane. I believe the resident at 2 Vine Tree Avenue warned people about how dangerous if was. I also had personal experience of how dangerous it was as I had to cross Rope Lane to get to Vine Tree AVE and nearly lost my footing, because of the black ice and nearly fell over on to Rope Lane which would have resulted in injury to myself. There were also cars going past at the time. (I had approached this part and was actually going to stop and check for a break in the traffic but the ice made me move forward - this part of the pavement is on a slight slope, lowered I think for the property near there - bungalow side of Rope Lane
