Dangerously parked vehicle
Reported via mobile in the Obstruction on road or pavement category anonymously at 19:43, Thursday 4 July 2024
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6192899.
This was reported six days ago. Still no response.
“A white van has been parked there for three days. It is impossible to turn right onto Marshfield Way without hitting whoever has parked there, doing a three point turn on the brow of a hill and on a blind bend,”
One month ago this was reported. No response.
“ Please can you change the white line at this junction with Summerfield Road to a double yellow because when people park on the white line it makes this junction really dangerous. The junction is just below a blind bend on a hill which people regularly drive up in excess of 30mph. To turn right out of Summerfield Road cars need to take the turn very wide (or risk scraping their cars on the steep bend - as can be seen from the many grooves in the tarmac). This means that if somebody is parked on the white line you can’t get by them in one movement. The other day I witnessed a car almost plough into the back of somebody attempting a three point turn here as they struggled to get round this car parked opposite the junction. Many years ago there wasn’t the need for people to park on the white lines because there weren’t so many cars parked further down the hill but now most of the space is taken, so people park near the junction (because it’s not illegal to) not realising it could cause an RTC. Please can somebody from Highways investigate, because this problem will only get worse with time as the roads become more crowded. I’d be happy to meet and explain the difficulties, if needed. Thanks.”

Van is still there and means that you have to do a 3 point turn from Summerfield Road which is highly dangerous. The white line was extended a couple of years ago and if people are ignoring it what was the point? Please put double yellow lines there before a serious accident occurs

The majority of drivers, even driving 4x4 tanks, can negotiate turning safely without doing a 3 point turn. Bit of an over exaggeration by the reporter.

Why is this junction a no left turn on to Summerfield Terrace ? Everybody ignores this road sign, is it obsolete ?

This hadn’t been “fixed” as the problem of cars parking to obstruct the road and junction continues.
