Serious problem. The manhole is pluckering up due to surrounding slabs sinking and becoming uneven.

Reported via mobile in the Pavement Defect category anonymously at 16:59, Thu 4 July 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6192325.

I have noted several people trip up on these gutter, manholes.

Please take this matter seriously because I fell so badly tripping up on the uneven manhole, sticking up that I tore my trouser.

Now a few months down the line, I am having to have knee surgery due to the knee trauma experienced due to the severe fall. I have torn my mescinus and now in severe pain. Please do something urgently because there are two manholes on the same pavement that I've witnessed people trip up on. It's a very serious matter. I am young and very active. It's mentally destroying me to know that I will have to have several weeks off work to recover after knee surgery!

  • I appreciate you have taken me seriously. Someone has advised me to take Bromley council to court because of my damaged knee due to the fall because of this manhole/slabs puckering issue. I have to undergo surgery to my knee because of the fall. This will leave me 6 weeks out of work. This is a huge concern for me.

Please repair the pavement, area as soon as possible. Do not delay this. I don't want anyone else suffering a major fall from these areas that I photographed.

    Kind regards, Sana.

  • I apologies over the delay. Our contractor is aware this work is outstanding and is trying again to attend. Unfortunately the "no parking cones" are being removed which is preventing them from carrying out the work.

  • Absolutely Nothing has been done to resolve the issue! Nothing at all. I have not seen any 'active' work being done to resolve the issues at all.

I am highly disappointed and I want to take this complaint further please. I am even thinking of pursuing legal action due to the pain and suffering the fall caused me.

Please reply to me as soon as possible regarding a proper update. NO work has been carried out to correct the issue!

  • Dear Team. These are photos taken today of the Same issue I raised initially. Nothing has been done. Please note, you cannot see the severity of the problem in the photos...they are not clear. You need to see the issues with your naked eye ro appreciate now dangerous the puckering is and the sinking of the surrounding slabs, which is causing the manhole to look 'raised' causing people to trip up and fall as a consequence.

Please address these issues as soon as possible. I am willing to show the work men physically to show them where the issues are.

  • I have re-inspected the area and the repairs have been completed satisfactorily. No further action is required.

  • I appreciate you're now carrying out works to repair the issue outside door 58. I've been at work and haven't had a chance to send you the exact location.

Please take these issues that I have raised very seriously, given that I am today returning from my GP due to having to be referred to a specialist orthopaedic consultant because of the sheer pain I am in due to severe knee damage due to falling, tripping up from these manholes puckering up.
