Dangerous pinch point on cycle path caused by overgrown vegetation
Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 10:58, Thu 4 July 2024
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6190237.
The approach to the rail/canal bridge on the south cycle path (westbound) has a dangerous narrowing caused by the crash barrier and overgrown trees and vegetation. When cycling you have to concentrate on the narrow path and terrible path condition before it widens. This is extremely dangerous when another cyclist is approaching from the opposite direction. Last night there was almost a head on crash with two cyclists because of this situation because there is little room for manoeuvre. Worst case is a cyclist could be knocked off and end up over the crash barrier into the main carriageway. Solution is simple by cutting back the vegetation and filling in the cycle tyre width cracks in the path.
