No speed llimit signs on Abingdon Road between the traffic circles on Abingdon Road

Reported via desktop anonymously at 12:37, Wednesday 26 June 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and South Oxfordshire District Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6157290.

We constantly have vehicles (buses, heavy road works trucks, farm tractors, motorcycles and cars) speeding up and down Abingdon Road. There are no signs to indicate a speed so vehicles coming from Wallingford probably think the speed limit is continued at 40mph and those coming from the ring road 50mph being the speed there. The council wasted a lot of money putting 20mph on one side and 30mph on the other on the side roads, where it would be difficult to travel faster than 10-15mph and those who would exceed 20mph would do so anyway despite what sign was up. I believe 30mph signs would help educate drivers as to the speed limit on Abingdon Road, one on either end. Some sort of speed restrictor such as speed bumps would help slow drivers down and would be a lot cheaper then a speed camera, although a camera may help defray expenses. The grates causing all our houses to vibrate as heavy trucks catch them, which have never been sorted out despite my request in April 2022, may also be nullified if the vehicles were travelling at the speed limit.
