Long Grass impeding driver visibility with increased pedestrians crossing

Reported via desktop in the Grass category by Parish Clerk R&SPC at 11:30, Tue 25 June 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6151709.

The Oxfordshire County Council School Street initiative is underway. Many more families are walking from the Thornhill Park And Ride , through the subway, across Merewood Ave and then down Terret Ave.

The long grass is reducing driver visibility, which is an increased risk to families. This junction should be mown more frequently anyway, because it is a busy, traffic lighted corner. The added number of pedestrians are another reason to keep this corner mown, and to ensure people can access the subway, bench and noticeboard provided for them. Please can this be cut back? Thank you

  • Hi, I have attached photos of the entrance to Terrett Ave, and the entrance to Merewood Ave - bench and public notices area next to the subway.

The pathway and crossing leading to and from the school is currently not good for visibility , as well as being unsightly. It is important that both side of the junction are cut regularly to maintain the visibility for the safety of ALL path users, not just twice a year.

Please can it be on the regular mow list to keep it under control, to improve the safety of all the pedestrians being encouraged to walk across the area from Thornhill Park and Ride? Thank you

    Hope this helps.
