Better signage required
Reported via desktop in the Traffic Signs category anonymously at 18:03, Monday 24 June 2024
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6148764.
Please can you change the ineffective "Cyclists Dismount" sign for a more instructive/informative sign, such as "End of Route" or "Rejoin Carriageway" as the path west of here is narrow & becoming increasingly dangerous for pedestrians.
Council ref: ENQ241008932

I share your pessimism, but OCC refuse to erect physical barriers on the grounds that they hinder the disabled, but every mobility-aid user I know is more bothered by the cyclists, than the minor inconvenience of negotiating a barrier. Their duty to protect pedestrians seems to come a poor second to the convenience of cyclists.
Improved signage is therefore the best we can hope for until somebody plucks up the courage to enforce the law.
In the mean-time, be careful, especially on the narrow, overgrown bits & blind corners..
