Fencing Broken around slide- unsafe again - Long Furlong Park

Reported in the Parks/landscapes category anonymously at 09:56, Tue 31 March 2015

Sent to Vale of White Horse District Council 4 minutes later

The fencing around the broken/missing slide in Long Furlong Park has broken in the wind shearing the welded joints. It is unsafe once again having fallen over previously despite being reported as unsafe before that. Please either fix the slide or remove its remains so the fencing is not required. The park feels quite neglected now due to the lack of response.

  • Vandalism to Heras fencing panels repaired on Tuesday 31 March. Replacement slide will be installed as soon as ground is dry enough to support vehicle bringing parts and equipment.

  • The fencing around the missing slide remains in a dangerous state. The workmen have not followed safe practices. Three of the corners are secured by a single clamp, the other by a single piece of wire (see attached photo). The correct methodology is at least two clamps per corner. The inability of the team to install the fencing correctly probably resulted in the vandalism as correct installation would have prevented it or at least deterred it. The ground has been sufficiently dry for a number of days now, as it has been previously over the months that this slide and its containment has been an issue. Please can you prioritise this before someone gets hurt or the fencing is disrupted again?
