Drain incorrectly repaired
Reported via iOS in the Road Defect category by Mark H at 06:50, Fri 21 June 2024
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6135269.
Within this year, Riney came to “fix” the drain on Baston Road by bus stop outside Hayes School and have in fact not replaced it correctly. This has now caused and is constantly causing a loud bang every time a large vehicle passes, albeit a lorry, bus etc. These large vehicles cannot miss the drain. Can this issue please be fixed as a matter of urgency as now the warmer weather is here, with windows open, I’m not sleeping well due to being woken multiple times a night by a loud drain rattling.
This was never an issue before Riney got involved and supposed “fixed” an issue that never was.

Can you please provide an update as to when this will be completed? It was sent to your contractors nearly a month ago and every night that banging of the drain is constantly waking up my 14 month old child. We can hear it so loudly from inside our property. This cannot go on. If it is not fixed very soon, I will be escalating this higher within the council.

Has this works been scheduled yet? The drain has become increasing loud and is constantly keeping me awake at night when larger vehicles go over it. My windows are closed because of the noise that it generates. This is an issue with the warmer weather. I raised this issue over 2 months ago and I am conscious that there will an increase in traffic next week due to the school returning after the summer. I have uploaded photos for reference.

Is there any update as to when this is going to be fixed please? Only because I put the first report in nearly 4 months ago and since then I have been woken up nearly every night by buses and large vehicles driving over the drain, therefore making an almighty bang in the process. The fatigue that this is therefore causing me, is detrimental to my disability too. This needs to be addressed urgently. I would suggest that you send out a member of staff and request the stand there until a bus comes past or a bigger lorry/vehicle. They will hear how loud the noise is. I still cannot believe that this happened in the first place and that no one came out to inspect Riney’s work?! Not to mention that Riney seem to have messed up other work in the local vicinity and created bigger issues from the work they have carried out.
Riney as a contractor should be heavily monitored as they seem to be employing people who do not complete the work properly or to a satisfactory standard.

This is the state of the drain.
This needs to be fixed as soon as possible or I will be raising it with the local MP.
