DANGEROUS roadworks on cycle lane

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 22:41, Tue 18 June 2024

Sent to Waltham Forest Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6124865.

The cycle lane closure for roadworks has been set up in a way that is dangerous and caused me to come off my bike sustaining injury. The actual roadworks are on the bridge and there is a barrier on the cycle path the other side of Essex Wharf road implying the closure is ended and it is time to move back to the cycle lane. The kerb is also flat at the very start. What isn't clear (especially in low light) is the kerb slowly rises so when cyclists move across they then hit the side of the kerb. I came off my bike here sustaining injuries. I also saw the next cyclist behind me do the same and almost come off his bike so it's not just me. Judging by this I expect a few other people will have had accidents here. The kerbs which gradually go up and down like this are generally a hazard and made a lot worse by roadworks which cause cyclists to want to move lanes.
