Cars parked on Hope road pavements
Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 16:32, Tue 24 March 2015
Sent to Trafford Borough Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 610588.
Marsland House (Bruntwood office block) apparently has not enough parking spaces for the number of staff that work there, so they park on all the local roads and pavements. I believe the original planning permission was only granted if this criteria was met! The cars that park along Hope road belong to the staff at the above and obstruct the pavement so much that pedestrians, people with prams and children have to walk round them onto a quite busy road. Trafford MBC, GMP and Bruntwood have been contacted with the result that a police officer visited and we were told that parking on the pavement was not an offense! This has been going on since last summer. We have approached some of the owners but to no avail.

Made contact with the council, Bruntwood and GMP, no action taken that we are aware of, although the council have passed it on to there parking enforcers.
The council told us they have no records of the office block original (1974) planning restrictions regarding providing adequate parking spaces.Posted anonymously at 19:59, Tue 21 April 2015

Have, again, made contact with the local authority about parents and nursery staff, with prams, having to walk round cars into the face of oncoming traffic on a fairly busy road due to the cars parking so far onto the pavement.
Also made contact at Marsland House, to no avail!Posted anonymously at 10:45, Wed 20 May 2015

Council/councilors, police, parking authorities, Bruntwood, nobody wants to know. It is EXTREMELY dangerous to get in and out of my driveway as well as walk on the pavement with a pram or use a disability scooter.
Plenty of residents on Hope road have tried in vain to sort this out, we need your help with this....PLEASE.Posted anonymously at 14:05, Wed 15 July 2015

Have been informed by a Greater Manchester Police PCSO that the council has agreed to paint yellow, no parking, lines along the problem area. No date has been stated just "in the future". Another PCSO has also stated that after attending Hope road "there were no problems" People are still parking on the pavement causing pedestrians to have use the road with prams, mobility scooters etc.

Still awaiting the no parking restrictions. Have been told it is marked as a priority along with many other projects. Cars still parked on the road/pavement, near misses and blaring horns have become the norm!

Cars still driving on and parking deep onto pavements every weekday. Wheel chair users and pram pushers are frequently forced out into the traffic because there is no pavement space! Spoke to police, they are not interested in enforcing the law which states that it is illegal to drive on the pavement. Spoke to Trafford council enforcement who were great but said that Trafford has not adopted the powers to enforce so the best they can do is hand out informational leaflets asking people to be considerate in their parking.

Yesterday, a young boy was nearly run over due to the illegal parking on Hope Road, so could the council be encouraged to speed up the process of painting yellow lines? It shouldn't take more than one hour to complete this task. The council should be a\ware, however, that they will need to start at 7 AM or undertake the task at the weekend, due to the length of times cars are parked in the area- often from 7 AM to 7 PM.

Continues to be a problem, nearly knocked over this week when stepping out of my gates. Car was driving onto the pavement at speed to dive through a gap in the oncoming traffic.
