Play area needs urgent cleaning / upgrading!

Reported via iOS in the Parks/landscapes category anonymously at 20:26, Wed 12 June 2024

Sent to Birmingham City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6100903.

I am writing to bring to your urgent attention the extremely poor condition of the children’s play area in Aston Park on Fredrick Road. The current state of the playground is alarming and poses significant safety risks for children.

During a recent visit with my daughter, I observed the following issues:

1. **Swings**: The swings need immediate replacement as they have been set alight and are completely unusable. 2. **Overall Cleanliness**: The entire area is covered in moss and dirt, with a noticeable accumulation of bird droppings. 3. **Slide**: The slide, along with other equipment, is in dire need of a thorough cleaning to remove grime and bird excrement.

Given the imminent summer holidays, it is crucial that these issues are addressed promptly. Children will be using the play area more frequently, and it is currently neither safe nor hygienic for them to do so. As a concerned parent, I was unable to allow my daughter to use any of the rides due to their filthy and broken condition.

I strongly urge the council to take immediate action to clean, repair, and upgrade the playground facilities. This will ensure that the children of our community have a safe and enjoyable place to play during the summer break.

Also it would be nice if you could add more adult friendly gym equipment like the play area in Mansfield park off Albert Road. The Aston park play area is a more busy and more frequently visited play area by a lot of parents.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. I look forward to seeing swift improvements.
