Overgrown and dangerous bridleway

Reported via desktop in the Tree Requires Pruning category by Jo Rees at 18:30, Wed 12 June 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6100462.

The bridleway which runs along Shire Lane between Church Road and Farnborough Hill is impassable and dangerous to horse riders. It is so overgrown that the undergrowth rips your feet out of your stirrups. Worse, there are many low branches which means that you have to lay on your horse’s neck to get through. This poses a real danger to horse riders. The worst part is from the Old Hill junction to Farnborough Hill. Please can you get this cleared to a minimum height of 8 Feet ASAP? To help you locate the bridleway use ///lowest.heave.snack and ///moons. once.attend. Thank you

  • I note your response to my request to clear the bridleway. You say it it farmland and not Bromley council’s responsibility. I believe that this bridleway is on Northend Farm land which is owned by Bromley Council and rented to tenant farmers. I suggest you check your records. If I am correct, then Bromley Council does have a responsibility to either clear the bridleway or instruct the tenant farmer to clear it. I wait your response.

  • Thankyou for your response on this matter, this bridleway is not a officially registered bridleway on our system and has been referred to our properties team as this would fall to either the land owner or possibly in this case the tenant farmer and not the Public Rights of Way team.

  • Thank you for your reply - could you provide me with a contact email for the Properties team so I can follow up with them if it is not resolved soon.
