Overgrown hedge causing people to walk in road

Reported via mobile in the Trees category anonymously at 22:10, Tue 28 May 2024

Sent to Halton Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6032038.

The evergreen hedge that boarders sandymoore lane has grown to a point where people are unable to use the pavement. This road is used by children going to school meaning that they have to walk in the road which is very dangerous. It also is creating a blind spot for cars turning in and out of the close on Dereham way.

I have seen people walking with prams, wheelchairs having to go into the road because the trees have overgrown so much. This is a busy pedestrian route which has now become unusable. I have a serious concern there will be an accident soon and would like to know how this can be addressed urgently.

This issue has been there for a few years but each year the trees are getting bigger with the path getting covered by the trees. There is no sign of the trees being maintained. As you can see in the pictures there is a streetlight that is only visible at the base and no light given off at night making this an even bigger problem at night.
