Missing safety mesh

Reported via mobile in the Manhole & drain cover damage category anonymously at 08:25, Fri 24 May 2024

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6014474.

These railings replaced the original ones during recent works to improve drainage on Wellow High Street slightly East of the junction with Littleton Lane. The previous railings had course mesh panels in the gaps to improve safety - eg preventing small children or animals from falling into the drain. Please replace the meshes before an accident occurs.

  • Hi,

This issue has still not been resolved. A member of the public raised safety concerns about this at last night's Wellow Parsh Council meeting (I'm one of the Councillors). Apparently, a small child had been seen playing in the culvert! Please note that it would be sensible to leave a 6" or so gap between the mesh and the ground to stop flotsam blocking the grid during heavy rain. Thanks.
