  • Thank you for your enquiry. Please note as outlined in our Tree Management Strategy (tree-management-strategy-2023-to-2027 (bromley.gov.uk)

The Council will not remove or prune trees where requests are based on the following issues:

    • Branches overhanging properties. Residents have the right to exercise their right under common law to prune back branches to their property boundary, with all arising disposed of by the resident. Pruning should be carried out following discussion with one of the Council’s Tree Officers and completed to the standard set out in BS3998:2010 Tree Work

Tree size, where a tree is judged to be overly large.

Obstruction of view: there are no rights associated with maintaining trees in accordance with maintaining views in British law

Lack of light: there is no ‘Right to light’ (or shade) in British law.

However, it is noted that branches from adjacent sycamores are touching the buildings roof, works have been raised to cut back to boundary branches touching the buildings structure which are in hand to be completed by the contractor.
