Traffic light sequence out of sync

Reported via iOS in the Street lighting category anonymously at 17:33, Tue 21 May 2024

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6003282.

The centre section of lights is out of sequence and holding traffic in the roundabout which blocks all other lanes.

The traffic lights release vehicles off the Crockford Lane Business estate into the centre section of Crockford Roundabout just as the traffic lights here change to red (heading towards A33, A339). This centre section can hold 4 vehicles max and there is no box section - but more vehicles move into this section than it can it hold. This blocks all the traffic in the previous section of the roundabout being held by a red light - their light turns to green and we are blocking the entire roundabout.

This occurs at 4pm everyday.

  • Timing was worse this afternoon. Traffic was released off the business estate blocking the roundabout and the centre lights did not change to green for quite some time.

Traffic is suddenly heavier this week and last, all the traffic lights in the area seem to go to red stopping the flow of traffic even when nothing is waiting in the joining roads.
