Dangerous and aggressive dog

Reported via mobile in the Dog Related Incident category anonymously at 12:23, Mon 20 May 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5996483.

Yesterday lunchtime I was sat resting against the railings of the river when I saw a large dog chase another dog in the middle of the park/recreation ground. The large light beige/golden dog was wearing a bright orange harness. It was running loose of lead jumping over a medium sized Black and Tan long haired dog that was on a lead. The lady with the Black and Tan dog stood between her dog and the beige dog, trying to shoo it away. The owner was no where to be seen. The beige dog then ran around for a while, all over the rec, then ran in my direction. It came up to me and started barking and growling at me. I looked around for an owner, but couldn’t see anyone. I stood up and remained calm. Eventually a man who looked to be the owner as he was carrying a matching coloured bright orange lead arrived. He shooed his dog away. No apology. Nothing. He didn’t seem bothered. I was really scared that this dog was going to bite me, and shaking that I didn’t have it in me to speak to the man with the lead. The man was Mediterranean looking, black and grey hair/beard, mid 50’s, 5’6”, slim build. Casual sporting clothing. I was also concerned that there were many many young children on the rec clearing away their football gear having just finished their football matches. Something needs to be done about this dog before it damages a dog or seriously injured a child or other person.
