I am writing to express my concerns regarding the lack of adequate traffic calming measures, specifically speed bumps, in the vicinity of Land of Learning and Evington Valley Primary Schools. Both schools are vital institutions in our community, nurturing hundreds of young learners daily. However, the absence of speed bumps on the roads surrounding these schools poses a significant safety risk to the children, staff, and visiting parents.
The roads adjacent to these schools witness considerable vehicular traffic during school hours, raising the potential for speed-related accidents. Implementing speed bumps would significantly reduce this risk by encouraging drivers to slow down, thereby enhancing the safety of all pedestrians in the area.
Several parents and local residents share my concerns, and we believe that taking action to install speed bumps would demonstrate the council's commitment to child safety and proactive community management. It is crucial to ensure a safe environment around educational institutions to promote a secure and positive learning atmosphere for our children.
I kindly urge you to consider this matter with urgency and to initiate a survey or a consultation process to evaluate the best traffic calming solutions for the areas surrounding Land of Learning and Evington Valley Primary Schools. Implementing such measures would undoubtedly be a proactive step towards safeguarding our children and promoting peace of mind for all parents and educators.
Thank you for your attention to this critical issue. I look forward to your swift action.
