I agree, as I use this stretch of the A27 very regularly and not only is the East bound carriageway getting worse, so is the West bound nearer to the Fishbourne roundabout. I notice more and more cars swerving to avoid them and it's only time before there is an accident.

I had a reply to my report, from the highways agency saying the holes weren't big enough to require attention and they wouldn't be taking any action.

We regularly use the A27 to get to Chichester and back and the potholes are dangerous and they are getting bigger. As quoted by previous drivers there will almost certainly be an accident as lots of drivers swerve to avoid them. Do we have to wait for this to happen before the Highways Agency does anything about them? Sheila Al-Amar

The Highways Agency said the problem was not severe enough to warrant their attention and therefore wouldn't be doing anything about it yet.

I drove down this the other day, and it's not just bad for the tyres and suspension, it's also dangerous because of the traffic swerving to avoid the holes. I wonder if the Highways Agency has decided it's cheaper to just pay the third party damage claims rather than paying for the cost of repairing it. Although beyond a certain point, I'd have thought it would become unusable if they left it long enough, which kind of defeats the object of building it in the first place. The fact the Highways Agency knows about the defects means they would struggle to rely on their normal statutory defence in court when people sue them for the damage to their cars, because they can't say they weren't aware of the problem.

Yes I agree, these are very dangerous. Just started to use this route as my husband has to have some treatment for the next 5 weeks at QA. Who will take any notice of these comments? Or will the 'powers that be' wait until there has been the 'required' number of mishaps? We have to pay road tax so use it for roads…...

The holes are terrible. I use the road twice a day and see the traffic swerving to miss what feels like "Craters" when driving over them. It is dangerous, end of. Damage to cars could be rendering them unsafe. The Highways agency have a "Duty of Care" to all road users. I believe that this is being breached. Please don't wait for an accident to happen, be pro-active.
