Obstruction caused by fence problem
Reported via Open311 in the Obstruction caused by fence category by Gloucestershire County Council at 15:57, Friday 19 April 2024
FixMyStreet ref: 5875530.
Further to my query regarding a blocked public right of way near Chavenage in Gloucestershire, I have identified the exact location where the land owner has placed an electric fence across the right of way. On Sunday 14 April 2024. my wife and I helped a young woman and her dog get across the electric fence. The poor dog did not escape without an electric shock. The fence owners have not put a removable section in place.
The offending electric fence is at the point where the Horsley Footpath 33 (MH033: USRN 38504435) joins the Avening Footpath 9 (NAV9; USRN 09404518). The electric fence extends all the way along the Avening footpath. The approximate Three Words location is poets. sorters. mailer
We would appreciate it if Highways could ask the land owners to rectify the situation as soon as possible. We are hoping to take a party of walkers on that route at the end of May. As it is, the fence poses a dangerous electrical risk and a trip hazard.
Your help with this matter is much appreciated.
