As outlined at http://www.bromley.gov.uk/ fixservices untaxed vehicles cannot be impounded immediately, and Bromley must adhere to the grace period (typically one month) given by the DVLA before any action can be taken and then the timeframes for any tax warning served.

Please note that the DVLA typically allow a keeper a period of a month in which to renew their tax. Please refrain from reporting untaxed vehicles until this period has expired as no enforcement action can be taken during it. Bromley has the powers to deal with abandoned or untaxed vehicles only. Vehicles without insurance or a MOT should be directed to the Police as we do not have the statutory powers to deal with this type of offence. Note that such incursions are only dealt with by the Police whilst the vehicle is observed being driven

Hi,
This vehicle’s (LX16 ZTG) tax is now one month overdue and has no MOT, can Bromley please investigate this abandoned vehicle.
As the original report confirms, this vehicle has been in Gladstone Road and not moved for a year, this is not uncommon for non-residents cars to take permanent residence in Gladstone Road.
They do not move for months (quite often without an MOT, but taxed as the owner knows Bromley council are powerless!) and take up valuable parking spaces.

We have investigated this report and found the vehicle to be taxed; a taxed vehicle is a strong indicator of an interested party and therefore the vehicle is not considered to be abandoned at this time and no further action will be taken. You can check the tax status of a vehicle online via: https://www.gov.uk/ check-vehicle-tax. Insurance or MOT issues should be directed to the Police as Bromley do not have the statutory powers to deal with this type of offence.
State changed to: No further action
