Inadequate safety measures

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category by Nagaraju Donthiboyina at 09:34, Wednesday 17 April 2024

Sent to Stockport Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5863785.

Hello, I am writing to bring to your notice that the safety measures at the new roundabout (oil terminal roundabout) near poynton between A555 and A523 are very much inadequate. I travel daily to my office using this road. First of all, the roundabout design is not ideal. It is so much confusing. I can see frequent accidents within the roundabout. This maybe due to the following reasons. 1. The current speed limit is 50. This must be 30 when approaching the roundabout. The vehicle density is always high. 2. 90% vehicles don't follow 50 mile limit. I wish there should be a speed camera (at least 0.3 mile before the roundabout) and red light camera on each signal as well. 3. No sign boards when approaching the roundabout from Manchester side. There are markings on the road but not enough. 4. Due to lack of speed control, there is a sense of hasty/urgency which leading to confusion and sudden lane changing. I would appreciate the fact that, this connection reduces the travel time significantly but only when there are adequate safety measures. Thanks
