Obstructed stile (Brisley FP 10)

Reported via desktop in the Footpaths/ Rights of way (usually not tarmac) category anonymously at 19:32, Thu 28 March 2024

Sent to Norfolk County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5779997.

See the photographs. An additional rail has been suspended across the stile, which the public are expected to undo, lower, step over, and re-hang. This places an additional impediment upon the public's ability to pass along the path, requiring an additional degree of dexterity and agility than would be the case with a conventional stile. Not only is the additional rail unnecessary, but the whole stile is unnecessary (as with the other stiles on the path) as the land being grazed by horses is entirely fenced off from the path. Also of concern is the fact that signage has been added to the stile (see photos). One sign demands (rather than merely requests) that dogs be kept on leads (which is not a lawful requirement, unless a relevant byelaw in force), plus the there is not one but two waymarking arrows (one of which is yellow in colour) directing the public away from the line of the public path.
