Traffic delays caused by unnecessarily narrow road

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 10:18, Thu 28 March 2024

Sent to West Sussex County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5777132.

The road here always seems poor, but this comment is about the road layout which could be easily improved.. Traffic turning right towards Oving always slows the traffic trying to cross the railway, and if you do not get across the railway you have to wait until the barriers go up again. There is plenty of room exactly opposite the Oving road where the road could be widened, allowing traffic to pass towards Shopwhyke - and crosing the railway more quickly.

  • I did get a reply from Michael Dare who thought it basically not a bad idea but there just is not enough distance between the junction and the railway for it to be practical regarding regulations etc. Shame.
