80cm wide pothole right next to pedestrian crossing outside Clifton down shopping centre

This pothole has faded white marker around it which suggests it has been repaired previously. It wasn't there a week ago when I cycled to work. My friend plunged right into it this morning and nearly came off his bike. It is a substantial pothole. To avoid it you have to either go out into middle of the road or stay very close to the kerbside.
