Steel Gate left open causing massive banging during the night

Reported anonymously at 00:18, Thu 15 January 2015

Sent to Lancashire County Council and Preston City Council 2 minutes later

Between Number 2 Skeffington Road and the Premier convenience store there as a heavy steel gate which which is constantly being left open by either the resident at number 2 Skeffington Road or one of the 3 households on New Hall Lane who use it for access.

When this gate is left open (Which is frequent) and there is even mild wind the gate, being steel, bangs very loudly against the steel frame. When there is a storm the noise is horrendous. I live at least 70 metres away from the gate and one night last winter during a storm it was banging so loudly that I had to actually abandon my front bedroom and sleep in the back room.

I am leaving this notice tonight because it has been left open yet again and it is totally disturbing the whole area. Storms are so common during winter and this gate has been constantly left open for over a year now.

This is such a frequent occurance and I don't want to sound dramatic but if the council don't take action to warn these residents about the horrendous disruption this gate causes during storms, and if this continues I feel like personally ripping the gate off it's hinges myself and destroy it. I am at my wits end and I am here to ask the council to take remedial action. Should the council fail to do so I will have no choice but to remedy it myself. The residents who use that gate have absolutely no right to allow their property to cause so much disruption for residents nearby

I have enclosed a picture of the gate. Please take action, you have no idea how much disruption this gate causes during storms.
