1528 Cars are coming through Castleford/Waterloo Street every week

Reported via mobile in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 16:28, Sat 9 March 2024

Sent to Liverpool City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5690187.

The council have confirmed after the data counter installation that 1528* cars are coming through Castleford Street/Waterloo Street every single week. They are travelling at an average speed of 14* MPH which is fast (*on average).

The numbers are out of this world for a small Victorian street. It’s not sustainable over a longer period. The council need to look into making changes to a one way street.

  • The cars are still coming through a highly residential area at an alarming rate. This needs attention. Children are playing football on the street for example. It’s going to take a serious accident for restrictions to be put on place to protect local kids and residents from overloading of cars.

  • Despite repeated reports to the council, MP’s and local councillors the issue is still not resolved. We were all promised a meeting within 3 months but this never materialised.

  • Problem is still not resolved. Local councillors and MP’s nowhere to be seen when we really need them but happy to post rubbish through letter box promising allsorts. Time for tenants to arrange meeting themselves with the local press.
