Pelican Crossing

Reported via mobile in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 21:26, Sat 2 March 2024

Sent to Reading Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5659163.

Since Reading Council has resurface the road you have made it impossible to stand by the pelican crossing when it is raining. Large puddles accumulate on both sides. There are also numerous areas of water build up on the Bath Road bus stop which didn’t exist before the resurfacing.

I now when using the bus stop have been repeatedly soaks by large vehicles who have no other option but to go through the puddles near the bus stop.

The resurfacing has made this area worse not better.

  • Ongoing issues with drainage with the Pelican Crossing on Bath Road next to the Beefeater. Since the resurfacing works pools puddle at both ends of the pelican crossing, meaning pedestrians risk being soaked by cars. The same issue is true of the bus stop. Very disappointing as road resurfacing is meant to improve things not make them worse!
