Dangerous junction.

Reported via desktop in the Road traffic signs category by Steve Boothby at 11:07, Tue 27 February 2024

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5637860.

I witnessed the aftermath of an accident here on Saturday 24th Feb at aprox 5pm. It became apparent that when travelling west along Lake Grove Road towards the junction with Kennard Road the stop signage is obscured partially by the Zone ends signage and the big oak tree limbs. Also at this time of the evening and with the lack of foliage on the trees the sun was quite low in the sky. The ground signage is also quite worn. If you have local knowledge then these things shouldn't be an issue but if not, it can be hard to see the junction and believe that you can continue on your journey.

Updates

  • I forgot to mention that in traveling East on Marley avenue towards the same junction there is a sign indicating the junction is 50 yards away. There isn't one traveling West on Lake Grove Road.

  • Whist I applaud the refreshing of the road markings I can't help thinking that (as on the opposite approach to the junction) a sign set back from the junction warning of it's existence, would be a good idea.
