Resurfacing Lynwick Street Rudgwick
Reported via mobile in the Potholes category by Keith Mantle at 14:05, Mon 26 February 2024
Sent to West Sussex County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5633399.
Things have been bad in Lynwick Street for many years. The main excuse by the local and district Councils was the presence of Rudgwick Brickworks .We were told that the resurfacing of Lynwick Street will not be resurfaced until the Rudgwick Brickworks have closed. It was closed recently by the owners Harrison’s Farme after the statutory fillings had been fulfilled. This entailed tens of 40 ton trucks entering and leaving the Brickworks 51/2 days a week creating major potholes which meant holes were only temporarily repaired. The state of Lynwick Street now means that it is very difficult to drive on. There are so many ruts and potholes that only a closure of Lynwick Street and a total top to bottom resrfacing will stop the nightmare we residents and our visitors are suffering. We pay our rates and Council Tax and we have waited many years for work to begin soon. Regards Keith Mantle

I have support for resurfacing Lynwick Street from Rudgwick ParishCouncil and members of the County Council.People living in Lynwick Street are fed up having to live on a street that is suitable for tractors. Even 4 wheel drivers try to avoid the street. May there not be a serious accident involving a cyclist because I am a Catholic and a Christian and could not forgive myself if someone was seriously injured or even, God forgive, killed on this dangerous road. I would move to a different location if I had the necessary funds. Regards Keith Mantle

In spite of all our efforts, and the support of Rudgwick Paris Council, the decision has been made by West Sussex County Council Highways Department to delay the resurfacing of Lynwick Street until 2025. They will continue to do their best to fill in potholes as they arise. This means that all the roads adjacent to Lynwick Street have been resurfaced. A very disappointing result in spite of all the efforts. Regards Keith Mantle
