Nasty pothole causing you to swerve!

Reported via iOS in the Potholes / Highway Condition category by Jamie Smith at 20:18, Wednesday 21 February 2024

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5612077.

There’s a bad wide and deep pair of potholes on this road as you’re heading towards Daventry from Watford Gap and to avoid them you have to centre your car over the middle of the road - potentially resulting in a head-on with anything coming in the opposite direction. I’ve pinpointed as accurately as I can. Please can these two large potholes be looked into as a matter of urgency? They have been there at least 2-3 weeks now. Unfortunately due to the 60 limit on the road and nowhere to stop I have been unable to get photos, but these pot holes are a serious danger.

  • Photo taken heading towards the A5 from Daventry this morning. You can see the two potholes one after another in the centre of the road in the photo. It is a problem.

  • There is a large seam across the road that has broken down and causing a very dangerous road surface across the whole carriage way on a blind bend 60mph road. Vehicles are swerving to avoid into coming traffic, I am concerned that there will soon be a very serious accident. This ‘B’ road heavily used as a rat run by local HGV’s and double decker school buses, needs urgent inspection along the whole stretch to Crockwell hill crossroads as multiple previous repairs have broken down with deep sharp edged potholes.

  • Hi there, Quite concerned by this reply. I appreciate you’ve said “by” July 2024 which could mean next week but ultimately could be in July 2024 - which would be too long. Can we have some assurance this issue will be looked into soon? There is a serious potential of an accident on this spot; which i dread the thought of when I’ve flagged this as a hazard. Not just saying this - please see it for yourselves.
