Grand Canyon National Park (Rusper Road Branch) Needs Urgent Intervention!

Reported via mobile in the Potholes category anonymously at 15:49, Sun 18 February 2024

Sent to West Sussex County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5594850.

Allow me to take you on a thrilling adventure along the historic Rusper Road to Capel Road. It's an experience akin to off-roading in the Sahara...if the Sahara were riddled with treacherous craters masquerading as potholes.

Speaking of which, these aren't mere potholes. They're geological wonders! Some resemble small swimming pools, others boast depths worthy of a spelunking expedition. My humble Aygo feels like a matchbox car navigating these lunar landscapes – at any moment, I expect to lose a wheel (or the entire undercarriage!).

Sadly, the adrenaline rush is eclipsed by mortal terror. Swerving wildly to avoid one crater nearly sent me into a head-on collision – that's IF you can even call my snail-paced maneuvering 'driving.' It's frankly miraculous I haven't joined the colony of lost hubcaps probably decorating the roadside. I regret not providing photographic evidence for your amusement, but alas, it wasn't exactly safe to pull over for a photoshoot amongst these automotive boobytraps.

While this spectacle might draw tourists yearning for an extreme 4x4 challenge, it's less charming with my weekly grocery shopping rattling around in the trunk. On a truly serious note, this isn't just an inconvenience, it's a major safety hazard – especially at those national speed limit sections.

For the sake of local vehicles and nervous systems, I implore you to deploy a road repair team equipped for this monumental task. Perhaps enlist some mountaineering gear too.

Sincerely,

A Slightly Traumatized Motorist
