The highway is giving way on one side into the brook, the drop is approx 20-22cm causing most cars to scrape the underside on the tarmac. Drivers are attempting to avoid damaging their vehicles by driving on the verges either side. Issue has been present for several months and is getting worse and being further eroded by flooding.

  • This section of roadway is getting worse, and I have seen 3 vehicles bottom out on the road in the last month. It was first reported in 2022, and was subsequently reported at least twice in 2023, but those reports seem to have disappeared.

  • Given that this issue was reported on 16/02/24, no action has been taken by the council and vehicles are being damaged can claims now be made to cover the cost of repairs?

  • The road has not yet been repaired. To avoid damage to vehicles I'd recommend keeping to the verge side closest to the brook, that seems to stop the bottom of cars being damaged
