Sink hole on edge of pavement is a H&S Hazard
Reported via desktop in the Pavements category by Derrick Sheppard at 16:20, Thu 15 February 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5582348.
This sink hole is on edge of the pavement outside the corner of 15 Shipley Road with the side lane to #'s 13, 15a and 15b. This sink hole is now a serious H&S concern as the hole is getting larger, possibly due to heavy rains eroding it over the last few weeks and months. This is now a 'Danger to the Public', as many people including lots of school children walk along Shipley Road and the side lane which enables pedestrian access with Henbury Road. To reduce risk of potential injuries, I have covered this hole with a triangular piece of concrete for the moment but the ground appears to be sinking around it!

I reported this sink hole 3 months ago as a 'Serious H&S Concern' and 'Danger to the Public'. This sink hole continues to get bigger, and has swallowed the piece of concrete and then the brick that I placed there to cover the hole and reduce risk of injuries. I and other residents are seriously concerned this growing sink hole is an 'injury waiting to happen' as many school children and people regularly walk past. The hole now appears to be approx. 70 cm deep. After inspections were carried out in February 2024 by both BT and Wessex Water engineers who confirmed the Council is responsible for fixing this, I immediately reported this problem to the Council. It will be more cost effective for the Council to fix this problem now rather than wait for an injury claim for negligence. Please advise when this will be fixed.
