Health and Safety risk on crossing

Reported via desktop in the General highways enquiry category anonymously at 11:39, Wednesday 14 February 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5575591.

I want to report a very common problem on this crossing on Henleaze Rd. I have witnessed 6 near misses involving school children using this crossing in the last 3 weeks - there is a serious accident waiting to happen here. This crossing is not as well lit or signed on the road (for example crossings outside Quarry Park and further up Henleaze Rd are better) but due to vehicles not seeing this crossing until late they often do not stop on this crossing in time for people to cross. Please can this crossing be better lit/signage etc similar to other crossings on the road as it is only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt here.
