Gigaclear contractors leave a mess (again)

Reported via Android in the Grass category anonymously at 09:42, Thu 8 February 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5547219.

Following on from the previous report of Gigaclear contractors, installing fibre-optic internet infrastructure, leaving the verges along Old Arncott Road in an unacceptable mess (what have you done about that, OCC Highways officers?); they initially left the verges and pavements along Merton Road in a much better condition.

That was until one of their personnel decided to drive a van across the freshly raked and level surface, adjacent to the junction of Merton Road and Park Rise (rather than driving over a dropped kerb), leaving deep tyre tracks in the soft ground and spreading mud across the road surface on Park Rise.

These contractors demonstrate zero respect for the community, for the environment and even for their own endeavours when they do make the effort to leave the areas they have dug up in an acceptable condition.

OCC Highways officers; your salaries are funded by council tax payers, as one of whom I am calling on you to deal with the two matters reported (Old Arncott Road and now Merton Road) as a priority. The contractors may have now departed, but their responsibilities should remain. Also, please enquire if all the areas in question were re-seeded with grass seeds, as it is not possible to determine if this has been done.
