Residents of 8 Ebsworth St leaving meat out for foxes in street.

Reported in the Dumped rubbish category by Chris Beach at 14:51, Sun 30 November 2014

Sent to Lewisham 4 minutes later

Plastic takeaway containers of food (often rotting meat) left out on an almost daily basis by the folk in 8 Ebsworth St to feed foxes, and have been doing so for years.

We have a major problem with foxes in the area, which defecate everywhere, scratch car bodywork and make a lot of noise at night. The council and RSPCA recommend against feeding foxes on the basis that it reduces their roaming range, interferes with their normal diet, and brings them into dangerous urban areas where 60% of them are killed by cars. Not to mention, foxes have also been known to kill cats. A study in Bristol found they kill 0.7% of the cat population (7 / 1000 pet cats will be killed by foxes every year).

I picked up one of containers of food and was accosted through an open window of 8 Ebsworth St. They then came out and threatened me. Luckily I caught it on camera:

  • More meat left out in the road by the residents of 8 Ebsworth Street. Foxes all over it, making loads of noise. Very irritating. Clearly these people don't care about the council visits they've had, and they need more serious action to be taken by the council.

  • More meat left out for foxes outside 8 Ebsworth St in the last few days. This couple seem not to care less about their behaviour or impact it has on their surrounding neighbours.
