Dangerous cycle path because of lack of lighting

Reported via mobile in the Lamp Out of Light category anonymously at 08:01, Tue 23 January 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5478677.

The complete lack of lighting between the BP garage and the turning to the park and ride is making the cycle path extremely dangerous. Even with good bicycle lights, it is impossible to distinguish between what is tarmac and what is grass verge (currently mud) in the dark, leading to the sudden stopping of the bike and causing the rider to fall off. This issue has been present now for several weeks and as more people are using the cycle path because of the severe delays in the evening with the park and ride buses because of the Botley Road bridge roadworks impacting on the park and ride timetable and the additional 20-30 minutes the ride can entail with the additional trip around the Peartree roundabout because the buses can no longer turn right, it is only a matter of time before there is a serious accident. Please ensure that this is fixed before a cyclist falls into the road and there is a fatality.
