Barrier did not stop car crashing into my garden!

Reported via mobile anonymously at 19:53, Wed 17 January 2024

Sent to Stockport Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5457579.

Dear sir or madam.

An incident occurred today. Date: 17/01/24 lunchtime Vehicle: mc73 euj plate Automatic, Nissan Qashqai. Location: Stockport Road / Heathside Park Road (known as Roscoes roundabout), Cheadle Heath, Greater Manchester. The vehicle was not prevented or stopped by the crash barrier on the roundabout as it does not go all the way around and is also too low thus allowing the vehicle to drive straight through the fencing of my rear garden, where my young daughters play luckily they were not at the time thank god! and straight through the neighbours garden. You can see on the photos a deck chair now mangled which my daughter use to play dentists on showing how serious this incident could have been.

The driver was checked out by the Ambulance service and the police, the driver was ok. We are just awaiting recovery of the vehicle.

The reason for this message to you is for 2 reasons, 1. To demand A significant crash barrier is built here following the roundabout all the way around which is also higher. And 2 I am sending this as a preemptive legal nature because, if this happens again and someone is injured or killed due to the barrier not being raised/extended to prevent this happening again, I will raise this message in a court of law. We have taken pictures of the vehicles path and it clearly shows that if the barrier had been sufficiently high/long enough, the vehicles trajectory would have been different and therefore protected the gardens & properties beyond the barrier.
