Road surface Completely breaking up deep potholes loose material causing safety hazard

Reported via desktop in the Potholes category by Neil Williams at 16:40, Thu 11 January 2024

Sent to West Sussex County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5430742.

I had previously reported serious potholes on 23rd November 2023 in the southbound carriageway of Kings Way near the bus stop and opposite the Flats which back on to the road Kingsway e.g. flat 69 The warren is one of the flats opposite to help with the location. It is now over 7 weeks and absolutely nothing has been done, not even the statutory jobsworth has been out to paint around the holes with the can of yellow or white aerosol! This carriageway has had several unacceptable, poor previous pothole repairs in this area last year all of which seem to last about 24 hours. I have included updated pictures which show the further serious deterioration. Not only are the potholes deep, the surface of the road is completely breaking up and the excess loose material and stones are littering the carriageway and getting thrown up in all directions, creating a further safety hazard. Southbound motorists to avoid the potholes are now swerving around these potholes with their cars, meaning they go in the Northbound carriageway which is making driving in the oncoming direction extremely dangerous. This area requires immediate attention and not just further bodged bits of pug rammed in the holes. An area of approx. 12 feet by 8 feet needs to be scrapped back and re-laid properly. It is just wasting public money and highway funds continually patching up with these bodged repairs. Kings Way is a busy road with buses and lorries and the area is deteriorating fast.
