Road Erosion and Potholes

Reported via mobile in the Pothole category anonymously at 12:31, Thursday 11 January 2024 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5429135.

Hi,

There is a lot of surface water here eating it's own path diagonally through the tarmac from the eastern side of the road, over towards Letcombe Brook. The water could be coming from the spring, but the remaining section of road here is being eroded away from the sheer amount of water.

It looks like this area of tarmac has been patched many times before. OCC may wish to consider a better long-term solution. Perhaps a small metal-edged drainage channel could be created diagonally across the road to try and gently direct the water into the Brook and mitigate the ongoing impact of the surface/ground water upon the road surface. This side of the road will be impassable in time if this is not managed.

Please could a member of the team investigate solutions for this section of road? Thank you

  • An open flood is not going to fix itself. If this is the spring, it needs redirecting, the road is going to repeatedly be ruined. This has been going on a year, and everyone seems to want someone else to deal with it. It's literally thousands of litres of water per day.

  • Updated photos, April 2024.

Please could OCC investigate how best to address the state of this road as a matter of urgency. These increasingly large potholes are now a severe hazard for vehicles, cyclists horseriders and pedestrians alike.

    Thank you
