Pulling into and out of the road opposite the mill (Access to Kings Wharf and The Wharf), is a nightmare on a daily basis. Cars are always parked on the side of the road (on the right if pulling into the road). most of the time, we are left with one side of the road in use which causes problems coming into or out of the road, mainly for residents who live and park within The Wharf and Kings Wharf. It's dangerous, there is also a blind spot to the left as you're pulling out of kings wharf due to bushes, so you're making sure no one is coming plus trying to make sure you don't pull into one of the parked cars. Can we put some restrictions on this road? I have had to pull into the road very fast on occasion having to make sure there are no cars wanting to come out of the road, otherwise I would end up smashing into them if pulling in quick and a car is coming from the lamb pub direction (slight blind corner and also people drive fast coming round this corner and up mill street so I'm having to make a split second decision. This is really dangerous.

Dear Becky, thank you for your report. There is a single yellow line (no waiting 8am to 6pm, Mon to Sat) along either side of The Wharf. Enforcement of yellow line restrictions in Wantage is the remit of Thames Valley Poilice. They are aware of the paking issue at The Wharf and issued a number of warning notices earlier this week. Thank you for your response, however, it doesn't look like the parking restrictions are really being fully enforced as cars continue to ignore the parking restrictions. In addition, please can you explain why it is acceptable for cars to park nearly up to the junction as I thought there were legal requirements to park so many metres away from a corner/junction. Please see attached photo taken dec 14 on a restricted day (Saturday) during restricted hours. I have an additional photo where a car is parked right at the top of the road at the corner. This is still dangerous and still causing issues. Something needs to be done to re-enforce the restrictions/road markings so that cars aren't parked right up to the junction. This is also limiting views when looking into/pulling into the road (if a car is coming)

Dear Becky, thank you for your update, which I have passed to Thames Valley Police's Traffic Management Officer for the Wantage area. Rule 243 of the Highway Code 'DO NOT stop or park opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space' is not a legal requirement. However, in the case of The Wharf vehicles should not be parked on the junction due to the presence of yellow lines. Regards, OCC Traffic Advice & Design.
