Saffron Rd Cars being driven over the pavement and across the green and parked outside residences.
Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 10:50, Tue 4 November 2014
Sent to Cambridgeshire County Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 540854.
This occurrence is increasing in frequency. It is now affecting the grass area on the corner of the green. If it is allowed to continue it will damage the green completely.
There is a lay by for parking and usually has spaces available. Cars are being parked only 10m away from the lay by and on the green. People are dropping off and picking up children, and also parking for long periods of time.
This is an abuse of an environmental facility. A facility for the use of parking is within easy reach.
A car is often dropping off children at number 5 saffron rd A people carrier is often parked at number 7 Saffron Rd while the person loads and offloads ladders and other equipment. The green at number 7 maintenance has been used for car maintenance.

This situation was reported to the police. An officer arrived who took details and declared he would take it to the Housing officer. He mentioned that the situation is anti-social behaviour and can be dealt with legally.
Nothing as yet has happened the situation is still the same as reported.
With the wet and damp that is now around the grass on the green is beginning to suffer.Posted anonymously at 11:39, Tue 2 December 2014

I live at number 7 and have NEVER done car maintenance outside my house. Yes I do unload on Friday and load up Sunday. I feel annoyed I have been picked out when to be honest 50% of people drive on it a lot more then me. More people are moving in that have a car and there are 5 spaces for 17 bungalows. The layby is 90% of the time full up. The gentlemen who complained maybe looks out at 10am but look at it at 6pm. There is not enough space for parking. I do NOT park on the green just load up. If you keep putting people in with cars you need parking spaces. There is not enough. How can a mum with a child unload her shopping if she has to park round the corner. Leave the kid in the car!!!!!!!

I have had a conversation with the resident who was unloading ladders. I would like to apologise to him for the way my comments came across and seemed to be selecting him out individually. This was not my intention and I am sorry that it came across that way. We had a reasonable conversation and passed reasonable and constructive comments to each other. I was worried about this activity escalating and destroying the green, as other people do not seem to be approaching this situation in a respectful manner. The situation has escalated as I expected, however I feel that things are on their way to settling down now. My only concern is to enjoy the green as a peaceful and tranquil area to be enjoyed by the young and old alike.

Photographs of cars and vans driving over the pavement and along the pavement have been sent to the Housing Officer of South Cambs., together with a letter reporting the vehicle traffic on the green and over the pavements. A copy has been sent to the local councillor and to the local police. I have had no response from any of these agencies on this matter. The traffic over the green is still ongoing and regular. Nobody seems to worry about the damage to the environment or the law breaking going on. There seems to be no application of regulations in this street. Who is going to fix this?

The activity of driving across the green and parking on the green has escalated to the extent that some residents have to ask the owners of parked vehicles ( a van) to move the vehicle in order to get their own car out. Car repairs have taken place on the green. (Photo of windscreen repair van in operation.) A driver regularly visits (twice a day) and drives for some distance along the pavement to gain access to the green, sometimes at quite a speed. When this has been pointed out, I am subject to abuse.
