Square manhole cover immediately next to the pedestrian crossing is like a square-shaped pothole as it has sunk by 40mm and rattles suggesting it’s loose. With buses and HGVs going over this daily it feels like a disaster waiting to happen.

  • Council refused to take any action, their ambiguous comment understood to mean they think it is currently not severe enough of an issue to deserve any kind of improvement. It would be interesting to see what objective criteria is used to determine whether or not a fix is required, as none of this was mentioned in the curt reply.
