I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring your attention to a critical issue in our neighborhood regarding the deteriorating state of the grass verge on Roman Road. The situation has escalated to a point where public safety is at risk, and immediate action is needed to address the concerns of residents.

Over the past few weeks, the grass verge has been extensively damaged by members of the public driving their cars on it. The removal of wooden stumps has worsened the situation, transforming the entire area into a muddy site. This has not only resulted in an unsightly appearance but has also posed serious safety hazards for pedestrians and residents.

I have personally witnessed instances where individuals have slipped and fallen onto the pavement, putting their safety at risk. Just last week, a young child from residence number 40 Roman Road narrowly avoided a severe injury when slipping, with their head coming dangerously close to the curb. The potential for a fatality in such circumstances is alarming, and we cannot afford to wait for a tragedy to occur before addressing this matter.

The overall condition of the outside area resembles a construction site, creating an inconvenience for residents and their guests. Many residents are forced to navigate muddy terrain, risking slips and falls, or resort to climbing into their vehicles from the passenger side to avoid dirtying their feet. Guests visiting our properties are also faced with difficulties, having to jump over hazardous areas to access our homes.

In light of these concerns, we urge the council to take immediate action to rectify the situation. This may include reinstating protective measures such as stumps or barriers to prevent further damage, and restoring the grass verge to its original state. Additionally, we request increased monitoring and enforcement to discourage unauthorized vehicle access to the grass verge.

The safety and well-being of our community should be a top priority, and we believe that swift action on your part will help prevent any further accidents or injuries. We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to a resolution that ensures the safety and aesthetics of our neighborhood.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
