Missing speed limit signs

Reported in the Road traffic signs category by Nicholas Leigh at 10:58, Tue 28 October 2014

Sent to Bedford Borough Council 2 minutes later

At least 1 and possibly 2 of the speed limit repeater signs are missing from the stretch of Mehew Lane, Upper Dean between the junction with Brook Lane and the 3 Compasses PH. It/they were damaged when the Borough Council carried out verge cutting operations earlier in the year. Not only is their absence detrimental to road safety but presumably invalidates the 30mph speed limit legal requirements. Therefore their reinstatement is urgently required and I am surprised that the Council has not carried out this work already.

Updates

  • Still open, via questionnaire, 16:59, Tue 25 November 2014

  • The Council have responded to a follow-up e-mail from me seeking a progress report and have replied to the effect that the matter is in hand. A period of 6-8 weeks was quoted for supply of the replacement signs, which seems unduly slow, bearing in mind the speed limit is un-enforceble in the meantime.
