Public path STILL hidden, unsigned (Neatishead FP 7)

Reported via desktop in the Footpaths/ Rights of way (usually not tarmac) category anonymously at 13:58, Tue 2 January 2024

Sent to Norfolk County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5378797.

Reporting further to https://www.fixmystreet.com/ report/ 1396488 The path remains as much of a secret, on the ground, as ever. This issue was previously raised raised with Norfolk CC in November 2007, February 2009, November 2011., and August 2018. Norfolk CC are under a statutory duty to erect signage where needed to assist persons unfamiliar with the locality to follow the route of a public path. Local highway authorities are admonished, in DEFRA Circular 01/09, at paragraph 2.11, as to the particular importance of providing signposts at path junctions. Authorities are also under an ongoing DUTY to assert and protect the public's rights to the use and enjoyment of the path. The appearance on the ground is that, on the contrary, the council are instead conspiring with the occupiers of the land (who are obstructing the path) to discourage the public from even knowing about this public path. Is that true, Norfolk County Council? Are you deliberately breaking the law in this way?
