Water and ice all over road
Reported via mobile in the Ice/Snow category anonymously at 09:00, Wed 6 December 2023
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5287095.
I’ve raised this before and been told Thames Water had fixed it. There continues to be an excessive amount of water running down and across the road and this is turning to ice on the road and on the pavement where it get sprayed by cars. Oakley Road is not gritted. This morning two passing cars collided as both were sliding on the ice and both are damaged. When will you come and fix this properly?

When is this going to be fixed? Water has been pouring down Oakley Road (from Brill Road) for months, an inconvenience until it gets cold and freezes, then the road becomes dangerous, particularly as it is not gritted.

Thank you for your report. The Oxfordshire County Council typically salts roads between November 1st and March 31st, although this period may be extended if weather conditions necessitate it. Our commitment is to maintain major roads free from ice, reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring smooth traffic flow. Precautionary salting, also known as “gritting,” plays a crucial role in achieving this goal.
For information on specific Oxfordshire routes that are routinely salted during the winter, you can visit the One Network website and select “gritting routes” under driver information. IF there is still a water leak in the area please report this to Thames Water. I have checked their portal and there are no reports at this location at present.
