Mud on road
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5281032.
Near bessie’s lane on burcote road there are a lot of workers due to a new houses being built in the area parking on verges and creating a lot of mud all over the area, they are blocking the roads as well so that other road users are having to drive up onto the verge to get past, which just adds to mud issue.
This is mainly down to the builders. But Anglian water have started work today as well.

The mud is getting worse and in places is right across the road. For as long as huge vehicles are delivering building materials to Wood Burcote the lane should be cleaned every week. The verges have now been damaged considerably all along the lane and the mud will become a long term problem. There is no through traffic as the road is a cul-de-sac, so all of the extra heavy traffic is to the building site.

We were promised a road sweeper several times a week while the building work continues, but there has been nothing since the council sweeper came at the start of December. During the heavy rain much of the mud was washed down Bessies Lane but it it beginning to accumulate around the job site again.

Investigation: Completed (Defect Found) - We visited this location on 15th January and the mud was clear from the carriageway. We will continue to monitor the area.

There is a lot of mud on the road again and the rain is making it very slippery. We were told that the builders would send a street cleaner along every few days but this has never happened. The mud is caused by large vehicles mounting the verge to deliver to the job site and dragging mud across the road, or turning to get by or trying to get past the row of parked vans which narrow the road. Every time this happens more mud is deposited on the road. The rain may wash it away over time but meanwhile it becomes a mess of wet mud so just relying on the rain to clean it up isn't helpful.

This has been repeatedly reported including planning regulation breach reports, but there is still mud all over the road. This problem has been growing for a year now and should be sorted out. I sign saying slippery road is not sorting it out.
